Competition Overview

Here's all you need to know about signing up for the Build Your Campus in 3D Competition. It's fast and easy, but if you just really love reading fine print, check out the terms and conditions. Keep in mind that each team can have up to 8 student team members and you'll have 3 months to work on your models.

We can't wait to see what you create. Good luck and happy sketching!

1. Start creating.

All buildings on your main campus should be modeled in Google SketchUp using photo-texturing and with a low-polygon count. To find out how to model this way, view our best practices document and our video tutorials, or look at this building example.

2. Submit your models here by 11:59pm EST October 31, 2007.

Be sure to register yourself and/or your team and submit your campus models using the links below. All entries will become public domain on our 3D Warehouse and visible in Google Earth. Google has the right to use all submissions in any form desired for any length of time. Please review the Official Rules before submitting.

Register your team any time up to October 31, 2007.
All team members must be registered under both team name and individual names.

Submit your completed models here by 11:59pm EST October 31, 2007.
Models must be submitted through this competition website by 11:59pm EST October 31, 2007. All team members must be identified by name on the online registration form. Models will be sent in the format of both .skp (SketchUp) and .kmz (Google Earth) files. You will also need to publish your models to the Google 3D Warehouse, so we can include them in Google Earth (check the FAQ on how to do this).

3. Check out the winners.

Entries will be published to the 3D Warehouse and the winning models will be recognized on 3D Warehouse by January 15, 2008.

4. Awards.

The top 3 teams (max 25 people total) will win a 1 day trip to Google's Australian headquarters to participate in a workshop with a 3D modeling expert from Google, get free airfare and hotel, food in our world-famous cafes, and a guided tour of our office. Oh yeah, and lasting online glory!
