Judging

Judging will be based on the criteria listed below: (refer to the best practices document for more information.)

  • Models should have low numbers of polygons
  • Models should be created using "textures" (photographs)
  • Quality of textures (removal of obstructions)
  • Higher levels of detail for special campus buildings

Andrew Carter
Designer, Illustrator
Utile Design
Australia

Andrew is a designer and illustrator with over 16 years of experience in the industry. He’s worked on everything from architectural design to documentation and had an incredible time doing it. Andrew’s also very involved with the Housing Industry Association, serving as a regional, state, and national judge, so we are really going to put that experience to the test with this competition. He’s a big family man and loves the outdoors, music, and SketchUp (of course!).



Karl May
Associate Director
Turner & Associates
Australia

Karl is a Senior Associate of Turner + Associates Architects and has practiced in both Australia and South East Asia. He has worked in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in a collaborative design practice with other architects from Malaysia, UK, USA, Japan and Australia. The focus of the practice was sustainable design, reinterpretation of building typologies and urban renewal. He’s worked on projects that include innovative medium density housing, market places and masterplanning for projects between 150 – 10000 dwellings. At Turner + Associates, Karl has been practice associate on a wide range of master planning and innovative commercial and urban housing projects.



Andrew Maynard

Andrew is an alumni of the University of Tasmania and now a director of the thriving architectural practice Andrew Maynard Architects. Last year Andrew's firm was named in Wallpaper Magazine's ARCHITECTS DIRECTORY, an “annual guide to the world’s most innovative practices” for its mix of rigorous built work and challenging experimental concepts. He has already received international recognition such as the Grand Prize in the 2000 Asia Pacific Design Awards and in 2004 his work was exhibited as part of New York's prestigious Young Guns exhibition. The AGE newspaper summarises Andrew success as “one of a small group of exciting, young and creatively boundless Australian architects who are set to change the face of Melbourne."
